sphalerite
- This mineral occurs in yellow, brown, red, green, black; rarely white or
pale gray. Being soft (hardness 3.5 - 4) and easily cleaved, it is
unsuitable as a gem material. However rare transparent and yellow to
brownish material are cut into gems for collectors.
